Atomic has adopted a radical approach to the design and function of the traditional straight axle. Proven components, like the venerable Dana 60 outer assemblies and the ubiquitous 9-inch third member, have been incorporated for their versatility, strength, and ease of purchase.

But beyond these basics, Atomic has chosen a fresh, new perspective and created a unique hybrid; one that utilizes the strengths of traditional straight axles while offering industry-leading gains in ground clearance and off-road performance.

The foundation of the Atomic axle is the unique arched steel housing. The proprietary design acts as a natural truss to provide tremendous strength under the harshest conditions and is made of A656 structural steel to offer the best strength-to-weight ratio possible. To ensure that the housing glides easily over any obstacles tall enough to reach it, the edges are all beveled; and the underbelly of the center section is flattened to create a natural skid that will not impede forward progress.

Reinforced access panels on both sides of the center section make internal access quick and simple. Housed within are 35-spline, 1.5-inch O.D., dual heat treated, chromoly shafts that have undergone the most rigorous field testing our engineers could devise. And these intersect with the 9-inch third member, which provides the time-tested strength and utility this setup demands.

Naturally, the ground clearance offered by the Atomic housing is what truly sets it apart from the competition. With a gain of 7 inches over a standard Dana 60, there is really no comparison. This axle will take you places you've never gone before and make you look good getting there.
